Fees & Billing for Obstetrics Services

With Dr Vincent Loh, you will receive personalised pregnancy care and give birth at the state-of-the-art and largest private maternity hospital in Queensland, the Mater Mothers’ Private.

Private Health Funds

Dr Loh works with all major private health insurance companies.

For pregnancy care and delivery, accounts for inpatient services are typically sent directly to your health fund. Depending on your level of cover, this generally results in minimal out-of-pocket costs for your hospital admission.

For gynaecology and IVF-related services, out-of-pocket costs will apply. We are committed to transparency and will provide fee estimates wherever possible prior to your treatment.

We recommend contacting your health fund or speaking with our reception team to confirm your level of cover and any expected expenses.

If you do not have private health insurance, or are not eligible for Medicare (for example, overseas visitors), we can still offer an affordable package for Dr Loh’s services. Please contact our reception team for a full schedule of fees.

Payment Information

Consultation fees are payable on the day of your appointment. We accept cash, Visa, and MasterCard.

All visits to our rooms are classified as outpatient services and are eligible for a partial Medicare rebate.

Medicare Safety Net

Your Medicare rebate may increase once your family reaches the Medicare Safety Net threshold. This initiative is designed to reduce out-of-pocket medical costs.

After the threshold is reached, Medicare covers 80% of eligible out-of-hospital expenses, up to the applicable caps. Please note that most obstetric services are subject to these caps.

The Safety Net resets in January each year. To access this benefit, families must be registered with Medicare. To register, call 132 011 or visit the Medicare website. Medicare website.

Pregnancy Planning and Management Fee (PMF):

Once your pregnancy has progressed past 28 weeks, you will be charged a once-off Pregnancy Planning and Management Fee. This fee is charged by all obstetricians and facilitates personalised pregnancy care and the provision of 24/7, on-call service from Dr Loh as required. The medicare item number for this fee is 16590 and a Medicare rebate is available.

Other Costs

During the course of your pregnancy and delivery, the following services will incur additional charges:

  • blood tests
  • ultrasound scans
  • paediatrician
  • surgical assistant (if you have a caesarean section)
  • anaesthetist (if you have an epidural or caesarean section)

For these services, accounts will be issued separately by the practitioners involved.  Where possible, we will provide you with their contact details in advance so you can request a quote.

If you have any questions about our fees & expenses, please feel free to ask one of our friendly receptionists on (07) 3188 7915 or email on info@kindredmog.com.au.
